Job Summary/Purpose

            Our specialized home-based social model adult day program currently requires a part-time to full-time Memory Care Program Assistant.  The main responsibilities of this position include the creation and facilitation of purposeful engaging therapeutic recreational activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests, and continuous efforts to create a better day for our guests and families.  The successful candidate will offer our program creativity, pro-active teamwork, and positive energy.  Prospective candidates with experience working in memory care are highly encouraged to apply.  A strong applicant will demonstrate patience, flexibility, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team.      

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Create, organize, and facilitate therapeutic and purposeful engaging activities allowing for relaxation, exercise, stimulation, and socialization
  • Provide a positive, supportive, and encouraging environment for guests
  • Provide supervision, cueing, and reminding with activities of daily living to enhance independence according to the guest’s personal needs and care plan
  • Knowledge of the guest’s individual comprehensive assessment
  • Provide emotional support to guests and family members
  • Ensure guest safety, follow health and safety policies, anticipate hazards, and take appropriate measures
  • Demonstrate respect and compassion in every interaction
  • Conduct oneself with the highest degree of honesty and integrity
  • Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interactions with co-workers, guests, families, and visitors
  • Assist with daily household chores such as cleaning, cooking, serving, organizing, etc.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Positive professional references from on the job experience
  • Evidence of effective problem resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must agree to and pass a thorough background check
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships and rapport with staff, guests, and family members
  • Ability to handle calmly and effectively hostile and emotionally upset guests and/or family members
  • Must have patience, cheerful disposition, flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, good listening skills, sense of humor, and remain calm during an emergency situation
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, appropriate to the age-related needs of the guests served
  • Ability to conduct both indoor and outdoor therapeutic recreational activities
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, walking and standing for long periods of time, stoop, reach, bend, and kneel
  • Must meet the general health requirements


Nice to haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • First-Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification
